Biography Marian Meakin was born in Macclesfield, Cheshire, where she studied art, design colourings at Macclesfield Art College for many years before deciding on a career as a Textile Design Artist. Later, working freelance for a variety of companies, her work has included large furnishing designs, wall and floor tile design, badge design etc. Marian was taught painting privately in all media for six years by a well known international artist. She then went into teaching and was employed for several years as a tutor at Macclesfield College. She has taught recreational art to patients in hospital. Marian now enjoys painting a wide variety of subjects for commission and for exhibition. Her animal portraits (especially dogs) and wildlife paintings have proved very popular, and for which she has been awarded prizes. Her originals and limited edition prints are now collected worldwide. Marian is a keen cyclist and walker combined with a love of the countryside, painting many scenes of Cheshire, Lakeland and the Highlands. Marian also runs absolute beginners classes and one day workshops.
